Not a Big Deal

So, the NFL is investigating the Redskins for tampering...

And what could happen if the Skins are found guilty?

They could loose a draft pick!

Snyder: "Oooo, I'm soooo scared!"

NOT!

The Redskins place little or no value on draft picks, so this potential slap on the wrist means nothing to them!

So what other recourse could the NFL have?

Would nitpicking every little detail and record for the investigation be worse?

No.

Would the bad press and fan embarrassment be worse?

No. (This certainly has not stopped them in the past)

OK, so what would?

Would banning the skins from post season play work?
No, they will be able to do this all by themselves...

Would taking away TV rights and revenue for a year work?
Perhaps?

How about they loose the rights to Haynesworth. Send him back to the Titans, or put him back out on the free market; but have the Skins required to continue to pay him.

Now that would be an investigation and fine worth avoiding!

I haven't heard much about it...but what are they being accused of tampering with?

There were articles, especially in the Washington post, about how Snyder and the skins were going after signing him before free agency even started.
There were articles that either Snyder or Vinnie met with his agent for lunch or dinner or something at the scouting combines.
Basically lots and lots of published circumstancial evidence that they held discussions before free agency started.
Nobody is accusing, but everybody is asking...
Did they or Didn't they?
Of course, from what I hear, they are going to be changing the rules next year so this will all be a mute point and never happen again... ;-)

Reports emerged during the NFL combine in mid-From the Post:
February in Indianapolis that Speck and Snyder had dinner together. However, Snyder often is seen publicly in those kinds of settings with agents. The Titans, according to a report in the Tennessean, forwarded to the league office newspaper stories, a radio clip, and electronic communication that they believe show there was improper contact.

Don't worry Doug... wait till Danny Boy signs Michael Vick (and it WILL happen!). Barnum and Bailey will seem like an assisted living picnic!

I think Vick should go to da Bills. Imagine him and T.O. in the same locker room!

Better yet, force them to take Michael Vick...
