Jets vs Patriots

Credit where credit is due: Stolen Borrowed from Nigel Buggers on Facebook who probably borrowed it from somebody else who probably . . .
And, I'm still standing by my "P" bowl prediction of no birds and Pittsburgh vs Packers.

It's all about two of my three favorite things...Sports and Stocks!

Credit where credit is due: Stolen Borrowed from Nigel Buggers on Facebook who probably borrowed it from somebody else who probably . . .
And, I'm still standing by my "P" bowl prediction of no birds and Pittsburgh vs Packers.

Call it a sign.
But with all the birds dropping from the skies unexpectedly.
My fumbled prediction is no winning bird teams in the playoffs.
You've asked.
I've delivered.

Am I Crazy?
Perhaps . . .
But then again, I don't know anybody who gets it right before the season even starts.
That's what makes all this so much fun!
San Diego's December hot streaks, as they always do, end in January.
Maybe they just need some pro bowl caliber players...
Oh wait, they already have at least one...
The Jets believe in Destiny.
Isn't it ironic that the team the colts fell down to at the end of the regular season and basically allowed entry into the playoffs is now their opponent for the conference championship.
No worries though. Indy has shown, more than once that they only need about 15 minutes of football to beat just about anybody.
Apparently this fan did not get the uniformity memo.
Something tells me that this is not a Dan Snyder franchise or stadium event....
Hmmmm....
The Saints Smothered the Cardinals.
Fantasy Football fans everywhere are pulling their hair out wondering why Reggie Bush couldn't play like that during the regular season.
If he keeps attacking the line and lanes like that, he just might be a worthy fantasy pick next year.
And it only took Brees 3 quarters of real QB playing time to achieve what most QB only dream about.
He basically just handed the ball off during most of the 4th quarter...
And the Vikings (always the Fashion Divas)
spanked the Cowboys (who also end tend to end winning streaks in winter)
My prediction for the winners this weekend....
Colts and Saints.
Sorry Sam.

OK, So SI had a whole bunch of "10 best and worst" articles on the NFL for this decade...
Seems they don't think anything memorable is going to happen over the next 3 weeks?
Sheeesh....
Would you say Belichick was the BEST coach of the past decade?
Or that Priest Holmes was the best free agent pickup of the decade?
If that were the case then there would be absolutely no reason to even bother picking upsets each week....
So here we go again with my fabulously accurate predictions...
Hopefully I can do better than last week.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns = STEELERS
Carolina Panthers @ New England Patriots = PANTHERS
Cincinnati Bengals @ Minnesota Vikings = BENGALS
New York Jets @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers = JETS

A quick post before the Thursday Night Game....

Detroit Lions @ Cincinnati Bengals = BENGALS
Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts = TITANS
Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs = BRONCOS

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins = PATRIOTS
Baltimore Ravens @ Green Bay Packers = RAVENS
So, I am totally depressed.
All my Fantasy teams lost...
I got eliminated in the elimination league...
And my monthly stock screens broke...
Santa's Helpers:
The bench totally outscored my starting lineup. Only Forsett, Young, and the Saints Def showed up to play. Everyone else scored single digits. It was so bad that even Jason scored more than my other QB and I would have one if I had played him instead of that loser Cutler... I need to win next week to guarantee a playoff spot. Right now I am projected for the 4th slot in the playoffs.
Weekend Warriors:
Needed to win in order to have a chance to make the playoffs. They lost by 2 points.
Pariahs:
Have been out of it since the beginning...
MSN Money:
Discontinued their great customizable stock screener for their canned reports. So my screening methodology did not work. Arrrgh.
Here is a bastardized version of my watch lists for December.

I will have to really look around for a suitable replacement.

Heres hoping your Thanksgiving does not run a fowl...
And for my predictions not to run a fowl either...
Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions = PACKERS
Oakland Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys = COWBOYS
New York Giants @ Denver Broncos = GIANTS
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons = FALCONS
Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills = DOLPHINS
Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals = BENGALS

Seattle Seahawks @ St. Louis Rams = SEAHAWKS
Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings = VIKINGS
Carolina Panthers @ New York Jets = PANTHERS

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans = COLTS
Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers = CHARGERS
Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Francisco 49ers = 49ers
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens = RAVENS
New England Patriots @ New Orleans Saints = PATRIOTS
I'm thinking Giants, or Miami, or 49ers this week.

Detroit won a nail biter...
Dallas got lucky...
Jacksonville kept it close till the end...
Just a couple points or a couple plays different and most everybody in the elimination league I am in would have gone bye bye...
That 12.8% still alive would be more like 1.2%.
What an amazing football week it was.
FYI: I picked Detroit.
As for my other leagues...
Two weeks in a row, Santa's Little Helpers have scored enough points to beat any of the other 10 teams in the league, only to lose to a no name who got lucky and won top dawg (highest weekly score)... Arrrgh!
My prediction: Todd (currently 4-7) will be the 3rd (no name) team in a row to beat me by somehow miraculously getting the top dawg award. Double Arrrgh!
The Weekend Warriors are rolling right along and after spending the entire season in the middle of the pack are now tied for the lead!
The Pariahs, well, lets just say they are still playing... Just not winning very much....
Oh, and I went 12 - 4 for my predictions last week.
All in all, not too bad.
Are you kidding me?
I'm still trying to figure out who to pick in my elimination league !!!
Way too many flip of the coin or who cares games this week.
But, hey, I'll give it a shot.
Miami Dolphins @ Carolina Panthers = Panthers
Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys = Cowboys
Cleveland Browns @ Detroit Lions = Lions
San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers = Packers
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs = Steelers
Seattle Seahawks @ Minnesota Vikings = Vikings
Atlanta Falcons @ New York Giants = Falcons
New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers = Saints
Buffalo Bills @ Jacksonville Jaguars = Jags
Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens = Colts
Arizona Cardinals @ St Louis Rams = Cardinals
San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos = Chargers
Cincinnati Bengals @ Oakland Raiders = Bengals
New York Jets @ New England Patriots = Patriots
Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears = Eagles
Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans = Titans

OK, so I was channel surfing last night and came across a movie just starting up and I stopped only because the intro was of old style graphic designs and panoramas of NY City, traffic and people.
And I thought, wow, this is an old movie. The graphics are so primitive.
Everything was very plain vanilla and very boxy in detail.
The movie opening started out from a distance, zooming in closer and closer into the city until it faded into a real camera shot of an old brownstone and open window.
Yes the whole movie was/is a cute chick flick but the really cute techie part that got me smiling, and subsequently hooked into watching yet again, was the opening scenes where the characters click on a connect icon on the PC, you hear the dial tone and numbered tones over the phone line, the hissing of the dial up modems negotiating the connection and the "ding" for getting online.
And then the iconic "you've got mail" sound bit.
Classic!
I'm such a nerd...
And now for my cute and classic predictions...
Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers = 49ers
Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans = TITANS
New Orleans Saints @ St. Louis Rams = SAINTS
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Miami Dolphins = DOLPHINS
Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings = VIKINGS
Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets = JAGS
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers = STEELERS
Denver Broncos @ Washington Redskins = BRONCOS
Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers = FALCONS
Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders = RAIDERS
Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers = COWBOYS
Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals = CARDINALS
Philadelphia Eagles @ San Diego Chargers = CHARGERS
New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts = COLTS
Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns = RAVENS

Yes, I know there are two ways to spell absolut.
But, this post is just to show that there is some proof to my predictions...
First Stocks:
I highlighted a couple stocks from my watch lists the last few days and since then they have done quite nicely.
From my "It's About Time" post on the 1st.
NTES Netease.com Inc
Time to buy back in. Recently seems to have bounced off of a good support low. They report earnings on the 18th.
GHM Graham Corp
Good well run company up over 30% for year - good pipeline - reports and recently pulled back to a more attractive potential buy in level.
CHNG China Natural Gas Inc
Leveling off after slight pull back and reports on the 9th.
CTFO China TransInfo Technology Corp
This is the big swing stock I mentioned earlier. So, why do I keep it on a watch list? Well, Support levels were at 9 , 8 , 7, 6 (with 6 being the critical one. Peak / Drop (Triangle) pattern has been exaggerated by recent scare. May be ready for a bounce and or recovery. But be careful. It could still go lower to the critical 6 support level.

Is it me, or does Cerrato have that "deer in headlights" look?
So last week I went a miserable 8 - 5 compared to my previous week of 11 - 3.
I'll blame it on the flu and my bad back...
I did well in my Fantasy Leagues, except Santa ended up with a couple less helpers after all was said and done.
Cooley busted an ankle and Shaun Hill got busted to the bench.
I tried to pick up Alex Smith off the waiver wire but because I'm 2nd overall in the league, my waiver order was 11th and somebody else beat me to it.
So hearing the rumors, I took a chance and picked up Vince Young. I still do not know if I will put him in this week as my Offensive Player or start somebody else like DeSean Jackson or one of my many 2nd rate RB's instead. But who knows, it just might pay off.
Oh and speaking of RB's, maybe Beanie Wells, maybe - just might be, turning the corner and coming into his own in the NFL. So I dumped McFadden (who has done nothing) and picked Beanie Boy up as well.
And now for my predictions
Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills = TEXANS
Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears = BEARS
Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys = COWBOYS
St. Louis Rams @ Detroit Lions = LIONS
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers = VIKINGS
San Francisco 49ers @ Indianapolis Colts = COLTS
Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets = DOLPHINS
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens = RAVENS
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans = JAGS
Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers = CHARGERS
New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles = GIANTS
Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals = CARDINALS
Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints = SAINTS
Until next time ...
Be Good. Do Well. Have Fun.
Actually I should say snap your fingers twice...
and I will explain later... :-)
But for now I will do a quick recap of the week as it relates to this blog and give my predictions for this weekend NFL action.
STOCKS: I kept my holdings of CISG which experienced nearly a 6% gain for the week vs. (the previous big winner) CTFO which had nearly a 13% loss.
And so far my starting lineup is beating my bench 8% vs 3% for the month.
FANTASY: I can’t seem to get out of my 1 for 3 pattern. Trouble is each week it seems to be a different 1 team winning. On the good side I am still in the running in 2 of the 3 of my leagues. (See left sidelines)
And no, nobody wants to trade for Campbell. Gee I can’t imagine why. So, in my search for a RB, I picked up Maroney who seems to have a good chance of getting more runs and a favorable match up (at least for this week).
And now for the Trivia Question of the week: Who was Vic Mizzy?
This week Vic Mizzy passed away. It is not often that this world has a person impact a generation (or two) with great talent and instantly recognizable classic works of art.
Want a hint? Just snap your fingers twice.
If you are still lost, you probably are to young to remember so click here.
There was a good write up here.
Not only did he write the original Addams Family Theme Song, he sang the original, directed the opening sequence with the original cast members and was smart enough to hold on to the creative rights to the song.
Rest in Peace Vic.
Oh and here are my predictions for this week.
CHICAGO BEARS
GREEN BAY PACKERS
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
NEW YORK JETS
BUFFALO BILLS
ATLANTA FALCONS
NEW ORLEAN SAINTS
NEW YORK GIANTS
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
I just realized I picked every visiting team except the Cardinals to win.
Hmmmmm ...
So, in parting I will leave you with sound words of advice that I give my kids every day.
Be Good. Do Well. Have Fun.
So this week (in my Borderless League that I commish) I get my bye week players back, at least the important ones. However, this week I have a kicker and safety on bye so I went out to the waiver wire and picked up one of each to replace them with.
Well at least I tried. Each week it seems I have either a top choice or a second choice who gets picked up by somebody else before my turn. This week I lost out on Darren Sharper. So I still have a DB to look for.
And to top it all off, I still have a bunch of either second string or injured RB’s not contributing. Sheesh!
So, for the first time in three years, I am trying something new.
I am proposing a trade.
Devin Hester and Jason Campbell for Cedric Benson.
Hey Frankie, if you are reading this - Just press accept !
The other guy (Frankie) has a plethora of RB’s (AP, Thomas Jones, Willie Parker, Felix Jones, Ray Rice, Jamal Lewis) , and is a little thin at QB (Kyle Orton, Derek Anderson) depth and WR’s (Ted Ginn, Calvin Johnson, TO, Jeremy Maclin) .
Believe it or not, Jason has decent numbers this year and is almost equal to Cedric’s point total. He does go up against a week opponent this week which makes him attractive.
I still have Jay Cutler and Shaun Hill for QB’s and Reggie Wayne, Michael Crabtree, Jacoby Jones, Josh Cribbs, and DeSean Jackson for receivers). Now before you laugh, remember I am talking about a PPR league. So half my receivers actually catch the ball and the other half return kicks. Which is also what Devin does.
So, Frankie, you get an extra QB and another multi-dimensional and versatile player for the price of just one RB. Good Deal!
Meanwhile, here are my picks for this week.
Houston Texans @ Cincinnati Bengals = Will the real Texans please show up? TEXANS :-)
Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers = PACKERS :-)
No rivalry help here
Baltimore Ravens @ Minnesota Vikings = VIKINGS :-)
New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints = SAINTS :-)
Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers = STEELERS :-)
Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers = PANTHERS :-)
Kansas City Chiefs @ Washington Redskins = CHIEFS :-)
If I were a betting man, the skins have yet to cover the points...
St. Louis Rams @ Jacksonville Jaguars = JAGS :-)
Philadelphia Eagles @ Oakland Raiders = EAGLES :-(
Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks = HAWKS :-(
Tennessee Titans @ New England Patriots = PATS :-)
Anybody thinking the next 0 and 16 team yet?
Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets = JETS :-(
Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcons = FALCONS :-)
Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers = BRONCOS :-)
The first 6 are what I consider Gimmies . . .
Or at least they should be.
Cleveland Browns @ Buffalo Bills = BILLS
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Detroit Lions = STEELERS
Dallas Cowboys @ KC Chiefs = COWBOYS
Minnesota Vikings @ ST Louis Rams = VIKINGS
Oakland Raiders @ NY Giants = GIANTS
TB Buccaneers @ Philadelphia Eagles = EAGLES
Here is where it gets tricky . . .
Washington Redskins @ Carolina Panthers = REDSKINS
I really want the Skins to win, but I just have a bad feeling about this.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens = BENGALS
Hmmm I honestly went back and forth on this one. . . a lot!
Atlanta Falcons @ SF 49rs = 49rs
The 9rs, My new favorite team.
Actually I liked them before the season started. . .
NE Patriots @ Denver Broncos = PATS
The Bucking Broncos run stops here . . .
Houston Texans @ Arizona Cardinals = TEXANS
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Seattle Seahawks = JAGS
Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans = COLTS
So, how soon until we see the Young one, Vincent?
NY Jets @ Miami Dolphins = DOLPHINS
They were the best win-less team, now they are the best one-win team.
OK, So last week I went 10 - 6 for the second week in a row.
Lets see if I can do any better this week...
9 -5 only slightly better...
Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
DA BEARS
Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns
I predict the winner has the initials CB!
as in Bengals
Seattle Seahawks @ Indianapolis Colts
COLTS
New York Giants @ KC Chiefs
GIANTS
Baltimore Ravens @ NE Patriots
RAVENS
TB Buccaneers @ Washington Redskins
REDSKINS
Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
TITANS can’t loose them all… Can they?
Oh yes they can !!!
Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans
The TEXANS will kick BUTT!
Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins
MIAMI
New York Jets @ New Orleans Saints
JETS
Dallas Cowboys @ Denver Broncos
Denver
St. Louis Rams @ SF 49ers
a lot closer with Gore out but
49ers!
San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers
CHARGERS
GB Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
GB Packers
OH, and I went 1 and 2 this week in my three leagues...
Mostly thanks to Gore and Santana Moss.
Gore got only .4 points and I ended up loosing by less than 1 point!!!
Arrrgh!
And Moss, well he just had an outstanding day numbers wise. I didn't have anybody who came close.
On the bright side, my team Santa's Little Helpers not only won but once again got high score for the second time this season!!!
I have the Gorey details posted below...

It's more like cheap plastic...
So, I've signed up for this Peter King Challenge thingy on the web and I am sorry to say, I'm no better than him or anybody else out there.
And... there are plenty of folks a lot better at picking than me - just none of them are the highly over paid commentator / experts (such as Mr. King)...
But I knew that already...
So far I am 21-11 after two weeks.
So, who do I pick for week three?
Redskins at Lions = LIONS
OK guys, I'm laying it down now!! I'm smacking my Skins and challenging them to prove me wrong. Only problem is we love to give winless teams their first, and often only, win for the season...
Packers at Rams = Packers
Too much talent at running and passing game and defense, OK Too Much Talent Period for the Rams to handle...
49ers at Vikings = The 9rs
Pick subject to change... I actually am going back and forth on this one all the time (I really like the 9rs this year) Sorry Sam...
Falcons at Patriots = Falcons
Watch out Pats, here comes the flood!
Titans at Jets = Titans
Me thinks the Titans are tired of loosing and the Jets are flying a bit too high after such a big game...
Chiefs at Eagles = Eagles
As much as I love to root against other NFC East teams, I just can't seem to justify it this week, even with Donovan most likely out...
Giants at Bucs = Giants
Browns at Ravens = Ravens
At this rate, maybe the Ravens will become my new home team...
Nawww...
Jags at Texans = Texans
Hmmm I hate trying to call games like this but overall I think the Texans should be the better...
Aints at Bills = Aints
I think this will be closer than folks think but the Brees is mighty strong lately...
Bears at Seahawks = Bears
Especially if Hasselhoff is out this week... Which reminds me, maybe I should look at benching T.J.
Steelers at Bengals = Bengals
Bengals can't be unlucky all season and I really love dumping on all my misguided buddies from PA...
Broncos at Raiders = Raiders
Unless of course the Broncos have been perfecting that tip ball play... which so far is the highlight play of the year for them...
Dolphins at Chargers = Chargers
The rumors about Ray Lewis being traded to Miami so that he can play against the bolts again are completely false!
Colts at Cardinals = Cardinals
It's time for the Cardiac Cards to start playing again or else their season will be dead... Besides, the Colts defense is not all that great.
Panthers at Cowboys = Cowboys
You know, if the Panthers win Great, but Jerry will not like loosing twice in a row, especially in his brand new house...
